Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent built this mosque in honour of his father Selim I, on one of the seven hills of the city during 1520-1522. The square building (25mx25m) is covered by a shal-low dome. To the sides are the flanks covered by 9 domes each. The interior of the mosque is deco-rated with fine Iznik tiles, and the carved stone-work of mihrab and mimber is beautiful….
