New video has been released showing rescuers working to free an 80-foot-long blue whale that had become entangled in fishing gear near Dana Point, Orange County, California, on Monday, June 27. The rescue operation had to be abandoned at nightfall that day after the cetacean, the world’s largest animal, dove deep underwater. One of the tour boat operators involved in the rescue said on Facebook the whale had not been spotted since.
