In the midst of a Monday evening pre-reception photo shoot with his new bride, Johnny Benson of Colorado was bitten by a rattlesnake.
Many brides and grooms share stories about unexpected events that occurred on their wedding day, but one man in Colorado has a truly extraordinary tale to tell, reports KUSA.
According to The Coloradoan, in the midst of a Monday evening pre-reception photo shoot with his new bride, Johnny Benson was bitten by a rattlesnake.
He and his wife, Laura, were with their photographer at Horsetooth Reservoir when the reptile suddenly appeared and sunk its fangs into the groom’s ankle.
A ranger tended to his wounds, and before long, an ambulance arrived to rush him to the hospital.
The photographer, Maddie Mae, was undaunted by the sudden change in the day’s schedule and carried on with her job, chronicling every bit of the aftermath, notes KCNC.
According to Mae, it was truly the groom’s lucky day, as the snake had not injected any venom when striking, making extended treatment unnecessary.
