Summer is a time when many young children head to camp, but, sadly, one such outing has ended in tragedy.
Early Tuesday morning, a strong storm swept through Camp Livingston, located in Bennington, Indiana, reports WAVE.
According to WKRC, a healthy tree downed by a lightning strike fell onto a cabin, claiming the life of 11-year-old Jadyn Larky.
The incident occurred at roughly 3 am and rescue crews were called to the scene.
There was nothing they could do to save Jadyn, and the county coroner pronounced her dead at the site.
The others in the cabin, 3 adults and a group of children, were uninjured, notes WKRC.
In a Facebook post, a spokesperson for the camp noted that professionals have been called in to help those affected cope with the loss.
