PUNTA CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC — Photos and video footage have surfaced of a blue shark that was pulled out of shallow waters in Punta Cana so people could take pictures with it. A video and photos of the incident were posted to Facebook on June 14.
Unable to breathe on land, the shark can be seen writhing in pain as tourists and staff members from the Hard Rock Hotel get excited and pin it down. To keep it from attacking, they use ropes and a small fishing net to drag it through the sand, and place a life preserver around its head. The shark is slowly dying while the people prepare to snap photos with it.
The photographs show the Hard Rock Hotel staff members with little children on the beach, smiling as they sit on the dead shark, grabbing its tail.
