Recipe for: Chinese Cabbage Leaf & Beef Parcels
I like to serve this dish with boiled new potatoes; you can also serve this with rice dishes.
Ingredients:
300g lean mince beef
1 Chinese cabbage
2 Tbsp oyster sauce
1 Tbsp cooking wine
1 Tbsp dark soy sauce
2 spring onions
1cm ginger
1 egg
1 Tsp ground white pepper
1 Tbsp sugar
2 Tbsp peanut oil
Salt to your taste
1. Method:
2. Finely chop the spring onions
3. Finely chop the ginger
4. Place beef into a mixing bowl
5. Add spring onion & ginger
6. Add the egg
7. Add oyster sauce, cooking wine & soy sauce
8. Add white pepper, sugar and salt
9. Mix all ingredients together well and
10. Marinate for 10 minutes
11. Remove 10-12 outer leaves from the cabbage
12. Cut in half separating the white part from the green
13. Boil 1 litre of water in a pan
14. Place the white parts of the cabbage into the pan
15. Boil for 2 minutes until leaves become transparent
16. Blanch the green part for 1 minute then remove
17. Reserve a small amount of the liquid (30ml)
18. Place the leaves under running cold water for a minute
19. Finely chop the white stem of the leaf
20. Squeeze out any excess liquid
21. Then mix into the beef mixture
22. Position the leaves on a flat surface
23. Place 1 Tbsp of the beef mixture in the centre
24. Then fold into a parcel
25. Place the parcels open side down onto a dish
26. Pour the reserved liquid into the dish, sprinkle with peanut oil
27. Place into a steamer for 40 minutes
28. Remove from steamer
29. Transfer onto a dish and serve
