Memphis, Tennessee WMC Action News 5 - Students given stronger punishment then the principal's office tonight after a fight inside Booker T Washington high school endangered a sheriff's deputy WMC Action News 5 Sasha Jones is live what this brawl could mean for school security Sasha. We're told administrators were working to squash beef between students when the parents became aggressive. That quickly spiraled out of control and the deputy have to call for backup. Yelling, cursing, kicking, screaming, kicking the door. Spectators describe a violent scene as these two parents along with their teenagers reportedly attack Shelby County Sheriff Deputy. It happened at Booker T Washington High school doing what administrators say a conflict resolution session. Its crazy they need to do something about it. Reportedly the parents and the students were called to the meeting to resolve and earlier issue that happened off school property. But during the meeting we're told that 28 year old Marsheka Benton became irate when the deputy tried to escort her off the premises the deputy was attacked by the other parent 33 year-old Latrisha Readus and the students. One student even try to take the deputies service weapon. If the parents are feeding them this type of ignorance we have a long way to go with the kids. Many parents say it's this type of behavior that makes them cautious about sending their children to the high school. If it was a better area or a better school that I could put my kids in that they would not have to come here I would but unfortunately its not. The deputy was able to call for backup and the families were taken into custody Shelby County school board member Avant says this incident helps them take a closer look at safety in schools. It helps us to address additional need or support needed in schools then we address those things.
