MINOT, NORTH DAKOTA — A 21-year-old man is lucky to be in one piece after surviving a close encounter with a bear.
According to reports, buddies David Shepard and Cody Kage were boozed up when they entered Roosevelt Park Zoo in Minot, North Dakota around midnight Saturday.
Police say after illegally entering the zoo, Shepard reportedly made his way to the bear exhibit. Then he decided to stick his arm into the bear enclosure and gestured one to come over. Not only did said beast come over, it also chomped a chunk out of Shepard's arm.
He's recovering in hospital and will be charged with criminal trespass when released, reported KXNews.
But zoo staff say they're worried about the impact of the incident on the bears and their diet.
