Nepal, May 18 (ANI): The disgruntled 30-party alliance has made changes in their Kathmandu centric protest program. Federal alliance now will demonstrate at 10 different locations in capital Kathmandu for 10 different consecutive days. The decision was taken at a meeting held in Alliance's office (Tinkune) on Wednesday morning. The alliance will now organize phase- wise protest programs from May 19 to 28 in capital Kathmandu. The alliance, which is opposing the newly promulgated constitution, will organize the protest fromThursday from 3 or 4 PM (local time) in selected locations. The alliance will demonstrate at the busy Lagankhel, New baneshwor, Sitapaila, Gaushala, Bhaktapur and other locations .After the completion of the 10-day protest in Kathmandu, the alliance will also demonstrate at the business hub Birgunj on 29th of May and tourist destination Pokhara on 30th of May. It has been a long time since the Madhesis and their allies have been staging protests in Nepal. Earlier, the community has staged border-centric protests, affecting supplies of essential commodities from India. But many Madhesis want their region, home to half of the country's 28 million people, to become an autonomous state within Nepal and not divided in several districts as envisaged in the new constitution. Lal Babu Rawat, who is also the Member of Parliament from Snghiya Samajbadi Forum Nepal, claims the protest is for the rights of the suppressed and marginalized groups. Covering 23 percent of landlocked Nepal, the Madhesh region is the country's bread basket, where rice and wheat are grown, and is home to jute and sugar industries.
