LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS — After being accused of allegedly using his judicial powers to force defendants in his courtroom to engage in sexual requests in exchange for reduced sentences, Judge Joe Boeckmann's days of abusing the justice system have likely come to an end.
In November 2015, the Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission revealed a trove of sexually-explicit photographs of defendants listed on Boeckmann's docket, mostly white males ages 18-35. The photos were taken inside and outside the judge's house, after he supposedly had them doing manual labor at his private property. An estimated 4500 photographs of this nature were found on his computer.
Some of the photographs also depict evidence to suggest that the defendants were struck with paddle sex toy. The judge has been instructed not to destroy the paddle in light of the investigation. The commission also claims to have evidence that the judge was having sex with some of the defendants on his docket, and was paying them sums of money for their cooperation.
On May 9, Boeckmann submitted a letter informing the commission of his resignation from his judicial post, agreeing to never seek employment in public office again. A state investigation in underway, and an ongoing federal investigation may also be taking place.
