While spending a Saturday afternoon at a carnival sounds like an enjoyable day, it proved to be a harrowing experience for an 11-year-old girl in Omaha.
Elizabeth Gilreath was on one of the spinning rides at the Cinco de Mayo Festival when her hair became caught in a moving mechanism.
According to her father, she was pulled back and forth for up to 10 minutes.
When the ride was finally brought to a stop, Gilreath was bleeding profusely.
Many nearby came to her aid, using t-shirts and other items of clothing to stop the blood flow.
She was taken to an area hospital and has since undergone a number of surgeries.
At this time it is unknown if she sustained perman
