LOS ANGELES — Dating app giant, Tinder, is rolling out a new feature called "Tinder Social," designed to connect users with groups of people for any number of dating activities and possibilities.
Utilizing Facebook networks, users begin their swiping sessions by grouping together a few of their friends on Tinder. The social element creates opportunities to connect with other groups out for a night on the town to experience "completely new adventures." Tinder claims the new feature is not intended for group dating, but will make socializing easier by helping users find groups of people with common interests.
Tinder already started testing this new feature on a pool of users in Australia, but this surprise wasn't exactly a welcome one to many of them, who were caught off guard by the fact that their Tinder profiles would immediately be viewable by their Facebook friends. To keep their Tinder bios private, users will have to go into their settings and do it manually.
Tinder Social is scheduled to be integrated into the app globally in the months ahead.
