Pakistan, Apr 29: Pakistan’s Consul General Asghar Ali Golo was photographed at a rally in Toronto with Sukhminder Singh Hansra, a supporter of Khalistan. Khalistan flags were also displayed during a pro-Khalistan rally in Greater Toronto. The most troubling aspect of the situation is the apparent link between Pakistani officials and Khalistan supporters. Lieutenant General (retd) P N Hoon stated that people are being brainwashed outside and then sent back, which is a matter of concern. Several pro-Khalistani groups, including the International Sikh Youth Federation and Babbar Khalsa International, are based in Canada. They continue to pursue their so-called “Sikh Agenda” clandestinely. In the 1980s and early 1990s, Punjab was hit by a Pakistan sponsored separatist insurgency. It claimed some 12,000 lives and affected the state’s development. However, peace returned to Punjab as people rejected the demand for Khalistan. Today, the state is prospering.
