When Hazrat Umar RA was caliph, someone openly stood up in front of him after Jumma prayer and asked about the cloth that had been received as maal-e-ghaneemat. He asked that the piece of cloth everyone was given was not enough to make a dress for someone as tall as Hazrat Umar RA, so did he take extra cloth which was wrong or if not he should otherwise explain himself. Hazrat Umar RA then explained that he had received the remainder part from his son. I posted about travel expenses about Raheel Sharif not because I had an issue with it, it is part of standard State practice and function but I posted to highlight the inherent double standards of politicians who pick up baseless things on one end and others at the other end. But, one must remember that accountability is key, it is the principles by which we live. Whether it is the government, judiciary, military or any other state body or institutions. Even media should be held accountable. Until or unless we adhere to this and not free ourselves from our mental chains where some are holier than others we won't be set free.
