Sikh pilgrims arrive in Pakistan to celebrate harvest festival

Lahore, Apr 13 (ANI): A group of more than nine hundred Sikh pilgrims arrived in Pakistan to celebrate the harvest festival of Baisakhi. The festival marks harvesting of crops by the Sikh community. On this day, Sikhs dress up in colourful attires and dance to the tunes of 'Bhangra'- the folk dance of northern Punjab state. Around 2400 Sikh pilgrims from India, are expected to visit Gurdwara Panja Sahib to participate in religious rituals during the Baisakhi festival.
Baisakhi is also important as it is celebrated as the Sikh New Year.
