Dubbed into Hindi as well as the original version and released in more than 2,750 cinemas, the sequel to the 2012 hit Gabbar Singh raked in 31.30 crore ($4.7 million) globally, including $805,000 in the U.S. and 24 crore ($3.6 million) in India. The movie is proving to be effective counter-programming against Walt Disney’s The Jungle Book in India, which took 10.09 crore ($1.5 million) on Friday. The big budget movie made at a reported cost of around 70 crore ($10.5 million) launched in 42 countries, the widest ever release for a Telugu film globally.
