Nepal, Apr 07 (ANI): Nepal's State minister for Industry Meghraj Nepali Nishad met workers of closed sugar mill in Birgunj and assured them to get it reopened. The state-owned mill was closed a decade ago and hundreds of workers, mostly Madhesis, became unemployed. The factory is spread over 52 bighas of land. Several attempts were made by the government in the past to privatise the mill, but it failed due to political instability in the country. The factory, with a capacity to crush 1,500 tonnes of sugarcane, was established in 1965 with assistance from the Soviet Union.
