Security beefed up for Assam polls

Jorhat/Karbi Anglong (Assam), Apr 03 (ANI): Security has been beefed up for the first phase of the assembly polls in Assam. Multiple layers of security, comprising both central and state police forces, have been deployed to ensure that polls are held in a free and fair manner. A female polling officer expressed joy over women being employed on election duty for the first time in the state. Nearly 94 lakh voters are expected to exercise their franchise in the first of its two-phased elections on April 4.
