"Mysterious Bill Quick..this guy was son of North-American dad and Venezuelan mum, and landed in Madrid in the early 70s, spending most of his time playing music and manufacturing leather belts and other stuff that he later sold at the popular Rastro flea market in Madrid, meeting point for all hippies of the time. He somehow got in touch with famous producer Alain Milhaud, who got really impressed by his work and quickly offered him a deal for recording a long-play to be released in Milhauds own Explosion label. Then Bill recruited some of top studio musicians and foreign friends who were also living in Madrid at the time; the list of people who play on the recordings is impressive: Salvador Dominguez & Chema Pellico (ex-Cerebrum), Rafa Galvez (Vainica Doble), Frank Rojas (Sangre). Jess Lam (Jess & James).. and up to eleven musicians joined Bill in the recording studio. As a result, "Maravillosa gente" (Beautiful people) was recorded. Ranging from beautiful, introspective, acoustic solo tracks like "Beautiful People", "Only the weather" or the acid-folk of "Winters gonna come" to full backing-band hard-edged ones like "Take me away", "Somebody" and the folk-rock sounding of "With you, Lord" or "I sing this song", the album is a real treat from start to finish. It has an awesome sound and amazing production (it was recorded at one of the most advanced Spanish recording studios at the time), along with top musicianship and Bills amazing songwriting. A real big ticket that was absolutely ignored in Spain at the time, and even today remains unknown to most of folk-rock collectors and fans. Curious enough, the album got released in Brazil as well (with poor sales again), with a different cover artwork"(shown above).

Mysterious Bill Quick ... son of American and Venezuelan, landed in Madrid at the beginning of the 70s, where he spent his time playing his guitar and manufacturing accessories and leather belts which are then sold in the Rastro, a meeting of the Madrid Hippies moment.
Somehow he came into contact with producer Alain Milhaud, who offered him to record an album to be released on his label Bang. Quickly, Bill recruited some of the best studio musicians of the moment and several foreign friends residing in Madrid by then; the list of names that play on the album is impressive: Salvador Dominguez & Chema Pellico (ex- Cerebrum), Rafa Galvez (soon in the band that accompanied Vainica Double), Frank Rojas (Blood), Jess Lam (Jess & James) until eleven musicians in total.
The result of those sessions, edited on disc in 1972, was the splendid "Wonderful people". It contains several beautiful, introspective and acoustic songs like "Beautiful People", "Only the weather" or acid folk "Winter's gonna come" along with the folk-rock of "With you, Lord" or "I Sing This Song" and more rotund songs like "Take me away" or "Somebody". The sound and production are spectacular, the unique songs and instrumental highest level.
Interestingly, "Wonderful people" was published in Brazil too, with different cover and garnering a new commercial failure. Bill quick continued recording in the 70s, under the alias Indiosuave, with little success and then publish a book (Autobiography of a Nobody), with some resonance in Latin America.
Now finally, this gem is reissued for the first time and the way it deserves. With carefully remastered sound, hard cardboard cover resperando original art, reproduction of the original insert and one insert with detailed notes and photos. 180 grms vinyl. and limited to 1000 copies. ..
