Agra, Mar 29 (ANI): Sparking worries, a pinnacle of one of the four minarets of the Taj Mahal fell off on Monday afternoon during the repair work. However, officials claim it was taken out because of its weak condition. National Monument Security Committee President and Taj Mahal’s trustee Syed Munawer Ali said it was the first time that while cleaning, the pinnacle of the eighth wonder fell down. He added that the Archaological Survey of India (ASI) officials were responsible for it. Meanwhile, officials of the ASI?said that the pinnacle was removed because the structure had weakened, blaming monkeys for it. Chemical cleaning of the Taj Mahal has been going on for the past few months. Three of the minarets of the Taj Mahal are being chemically cleaned and a mesh structure being put up around it. During this work, the pinnacle was found on the cleaning platform. The ASI?later covered up the top of the minaret with a piece of cloth.
