New Delhi: Referring to the Deonar dumping ground fire, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentarian Kirit Somaiya on Monday said it is a “dumping scam”. He further said he met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and municipal commissioner and told them that the municipal corporation pays for around 11,000 tonnes garbage daily but 30% of the figures are inflated as Mumbai doesn’t produce 7,000-8,000 tonnes of garbage. This whole episode is a dumping scam of around Rs 200 crore annually. He added that to hide the scam, there are fire in the dumping grounds regularly.
