Latur (Maharashtra), Mar 20 (ANI): Authorities in drought-hit Latur have imposed Section 144 in 6 areas of Maharashtra as a precautionary measure, to maintain law and order in the area amid the tension over the severe water crisis. These directions have been imposed as a preventive measure to tackle possible violence over water around the Latur civic body-run tanks. Former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan on Sunday targeted the state government after it imposed Section 144 in drought-hit Latur, saying that the situation could have been easily avoided had the Devendra Fadnavis-led government acted earlier. He also said that the government is totally responsible for this situation and added that if the government would have taken some steps to help the people, such a situation could have been easily avoided.
