Chancellor George Osborne revealed his Budget where he announced an extra £3.5bn in spending cuts.
Labour's shadow Chancellor John McDonnell said: "I don't believe the capitalist society that we have at the moment is the most effective way that we should be developing our economy."
He was speaking to Justin Webb on the Today programme.
