New Delhi, Mar 17 (ANI): The 27th edition of the Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2016 in association with Maybelline New York has started in Delhi with Varun Bahl opening the first day with his Fall collection called ‘Nocturne.’With simple and classic cuts, the collection had jackets, bombers, and tunics which can be mixed naturally with slim trousers and A-line skirts, frills that add romance to the walk, and circular-cut flounces with owls, squirrels, pineapples, pomegranate and other such fantasy things about forests as motifs.While Varun’s was all about light colours like Ivory, beige, teal, peach, Hemant and Nandita showcased the ‘Dark Enchantress’ collection which was dominated by deep midnight blues, earthy browns, deep reds and charcoal greys that come with a splash of gold, copper, bronze and a host of jewel tones that have been incorporated in the form of embroideries. The collection had Shirts and dresses in sheeny jacquard and features strappy shoulders and high slits along with the oversized, long outerwear in brushed wool and tweeds.Moving on, Pallavi Mohan’s ‘Synthesis’ collection was an amalgamation of what she has learnt over past few years. Laser cut leathers, kaleidoscope of organza elements and shingled panels, intricate hand details and succulent florals dominated her collection on fabrics ranging from woolens, soft velvet, silk organza and satins, making the collection a perfect winter wardrobe.Taking hues from pastel colour palette, the designer duo Shantanu and Nikhil highlighted ‘The Last Walk’ collection which consisted of drapes, ruffled gowns, tulle skirts, sheer gowns, and capes. The collection also had traces of the Victorian era in terms of the vibe, and fashion. Colours that stood out were white, plum, beige, red, grey and cream.On the other hand, Gaurav Gupta gave a perfect end to the day 1 of Amazon Fashion Week with his out of the box runway and his collection ‘Melt.’ Focusing on the issue of climate change, the designer brought together a beautiful ensemble that draped the entire width of a fabric in a given garment. The collection had structured fluid suitings, neoprene, sparkling jersey and silks form long molten gowns, bouncing asymmetry in jackets and frockcoats.Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2016 in association with Maybelline New York, being held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Lodhi Road, will go on till March 20.
