New Delhi, Mar 17 (ANI): Jewellers from across the country staged a protest at the Ramlila Maidan in the national capital against Centre's excise duty proposal on Thursday. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced an excise duty of 1 per cent on gold and diamond jewellery in this budget. According to the head of Gem and Jewellery Trade Council of Gujarat (GJTC), Shantibhai Patel, the protesters do not oppose the Goods and Services Tax Bill (GST), but they should not be troubled by imposing the excise duty on gold and diamond.
