Hubli (Karnataka), Mar 17 (ANI): Farmers holding 'Rail Roko' protest over the Kalasa Banduri Canal issue were evicted by police last night. Initially, the police did not act, but later when the chaos heightened the police initiated action against the protesting farmers. Clearing out farmers from the railway tracks, some miscreants from among the protesters indulged in stone pelting. The Kalasa-Banduri Canal project, which will utilise water from the inter-state Mahadayi river, is being undertaken by Karnataka to improve drinking water supply to the twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad and Belagavi and Gadag districts.
