Awesome footage has emerged from Russia of a large brown bear hunting rodents by digging up their underground nests.

The video, filmed in East Siberia, Republic of Buryatia last year, shows the bear digging up the burrow in an attempt to get some food.

The filmer later wrote online: "Despite their enormous size, brown bears are extremely fast and skilful hunters.

"They will eat almost anything: berries, grasses, sedges, fishes, roots of many kinds of plants, rodents, foxes, and other small animals."

"Brown bears dig mice, ground squirrels and marmots out of their burrows," he continued.
