Indonesia set to see a rare total solar eclipse on Wednesday

Indonesia is getting ready for a rare total solar eclipse that will be seen across Southeast Asia and parts of the Pacific on Wednesday (March 9). The best location being in the Indonesian city of Palembang where more than one hundred hotels are fully booked by tourists.

“Well even if it is clouded over or even if is raining, I think we can still see the moon`s shadow covering the sky even though it is not as dramatic as a total eclipse without clouds obstructing,” said Singaporean Michael Toh.

It has been 33 years since the last solar eclipse and it will be another 33 years before the next one.

“Actually we are not really taking advantage of this phenomenon or event, but coincidentally in March we are usually booked for government activities,” explained the general manager from the Aston Hotel, Muhaimin Ramza.“But some of them are cancelled, so we are accommodating tourists who want to see the eclipse here.
