Tees Barrage & Teesquay Millennium Footbridge a brief walk and look
Note : No White Water Rafting or canoes seen in this video.
The Tees Barrage International White Water Course, originally the Teesside White Water Course, is an artificial whitewater course on the north bank of the River Tees, in North East England.
Includes Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee White Water Course
Archimedes screws
A major investment in the project is the inclusion of four massive Archimedes screws which enable 24 hour operation when required. Prior to upgrade the course was run on the natural flow of the River Tees when tidal levels below the barrage allowed. This is still perfectly operable but with the addition of the screws, users can visit for the whole day and get a greater level of flexibility. The screws will also be able to generate electricity when used in reverse. The electricity generated will be returned back to the national grid.
The Lazyboy conveyor system is another new feature, which is a great addition to the course. The conveyor belt will transport users from the end of the course back up to the start. This will enhance the experience for users and will considerably improve disabled paddlers participation.
