Imphal, Mar 01 (ANI): Manipuri civil rights activist Irom Sharmila Chanu, who was acquitted by a court in connection with attempt to suicide, resumed her 15-year-long indefinite fast at historic Sahid Minar on Tuesday, demanding withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in the state. Backing Sharmila in her cause, one of the supporters said people, especially students, have always supported her and will keep her supporting till she reaches her goal. Sharmila, known as the Iron Lady of Manipur, had began her indefinite fast in November 2000, after 10 people were killed in a shooting at a bus stop near her home in Manipur.
