Scottish Club XV smash England Counties - Melrose beat Hawick in BT Cup

2016-03-01 4

Friday night saw the first match on Scottish soil between Scotland's Club XV and England's equivalent known as England Counties. Scotland ran in 9 tries to win 57-27 which could be one of, if not THE biggest wins against an English national side at any level in history. Leading 17-13 at the break the Scots ran in 40 points in the second half and were leading 57-13 before allowing England back in to score two converted tries in the last three minutes. They are now targeting Ireland in Cork in three weeks time to follow it up with another win.
In the BT Cup Round 3, Melrose beat Hawick 22-9 at Mansfield Park with Nick Beavon scoring the only try of the game. In NL1 Kelso drew for the fourth time this season (very rare!) with a last minute converted try to get two points in a 25-25 result at Musselburgh. On Friday night Jedforest beat Stewart's Melville to move into third place in the National League Division 1
