Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton helped kicked off Saturday Night Live‘s season but shed her usual political persona.\r
\r
Instead, Clinton was Val, a sympathetic bar tender, available to listen to the woes of Candidate Clinton, played by SNLs Kate McKinnon. Val offered her views on the Keystone XL oil pipeline, gay marriage and delivered an impersonation of GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump.\r
\r
Clintons SNL appearance comes as she works to show voters her lighter side and follows recent appearances on other late-night shows. She also appeared on the show during the 2008 presidential campaign.\r
\r
The latest skit only dinged Clinton gently. McKinnon, acting as Clinton, confessed to “Val” thats shes chugging vodka to blow off steam after “hard, couple 22 years.”\r
\r
When McKinnon asked about Vals background, Clinton, in Val character, replied: “Im just an ordinary citizen who believes the Keystone pipeline will destroy our environment.”\r
\r
McKinnon/Clinton shot back: “I agree with you there. It did take me a long time to decide that, but I am against it.”\r
\r
Clintons Val also took a stab at impersonating Trump. “Isnt he the one thats like, ‘Uuugh, youre all losers? ” she asked, her voice deepening.\r
\r
Clintons camp seemed pleased with her appearance, tweeting that a vote for her “is a vote for four more years” of McKinnon impressions.
