DREAM WATER COMMERCIAL BANNED FROM SUPER BOWL XLVIII
Hollywood, FL (February 3, 2014) -- The 2014 Super Bowl Dream Water® commercial will not air during this year's big game. The ad was rejected for being, "too risqué" for the general public.
"We are incredibly disappointed that our commercial will not air during the Super Bowl," said Dream Water CEO, David Lekach. Adding that, "in the great tradition of the Super Bowl, which is often an opportunity to deliver some of the best and edgiest commercials on television, we took a chance to do something funny and creative, but also, something that really stands out."
While Dream Water won't necessarily improve your dreams, its zero-calorie, SleepStat™ Natural Blend has been helping consumers relax and fall asleep for more than 3 years. With that in mind, Dream Water commissioned YouTuber and comedian, Steve Berke, to write and direct the campaign to get their message out to the public.
"Dream Water approached me and gave me the creative freedom to try to help the brand grow its visibility and make an impact. We thought, what would be better than showing a humorous version of a woman's potentially perfect dream?" said Berke, adding, "we're certainly aware that the commercial is laden with innuendo and yes, it is very tongue-in-cheek, but ultimately it contains absolutely no nudity or violence."
Furthermore, the director argues that the commercial should not have been rejected for its content. "We aren't being punished for what is shown in the ad," Berke said. "We're being punished for what is in the imagination of the censor."
Along with the commercial, Dream Water held a "Cat Casting Call" during which, the producers had a little fun with the cat owners trying to win their feline friend a starring role as the punch line of the commercial. The casting is the first animal casting ever posted on YouTube.
