Disney continues to comb through their catalogue of animated movies in search of finding ones to turn into live-action features and this latest one is just what we wanted! With Cinderella currently in theaters and racking up big bucks, Disney has set their sights on yet another animated movie to turn into a live-action feature. THR reports that the studio has bought a script from newcomers Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek based on the studios 1998 animated classic, Mulan. The film centers on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, a young woman who disguises herself as a man in order to take her fathers place in a war against the Huns. The original animated film featured the voices of Ming-Na Wen and Eddie Murphy and earned $304 million worldwide. Mulan is just the latest animated Disney movie to get the live-action treatment. 2010s Alice In Wonderland earned over a billion at the box office, while last years Maleficent earned an impressive $760 million worldwide. A live-action version of The Jungle Book, directed by Jon Favreau, is due to arrive in theaters on April 15th, 2016 followed by an Alice In Wonderland sequel on May 27th, 2016 and a live-action version of Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens is set to release on March 17th, 2017. Alice in Wonderland director Tim Burton is also set to helm a live-action version of Dumbo, though that film does not currently have a release date.
