Some massive news comes the way of all PSL viewers, the Quetta Gladiators supporters in particular, as Sri Lanka’s legendary batsman Kumar Sangakkara makes his way into the team to add even more firepower to an already successful unit.
The enormity of Sangakkara’s addition to the Quetta squad can be judged from the facts that not only is he one of the most accomplished batsmen of all times, but the veteran has been in super red hot form in T20 cricket, and only yesterday was awared man of the tournament in the Masters Champions League (MCL).
Sangakkara was representing the Virender Sehwag led Gemini Arabians side who emerged triumphant in the inaugural MCL. The former Sri Lankan captain scored a staggering 386 runs in just 7 innings for the Arabians, averaging 64.33 at a strike rate of 148. Surely, he knows how to bat on UAE wickets, and hence becomes a massive asset for the title fighting Quetta Gladiators.
Quetta had signed Sangakkara as a supplement pick in the PSL drafts, however due to the veteran batsman also being part of the MCL, he could only join the PSL proceedings once his campaign in the first ever league for retired cricketers came to a close. Sangakkara now travels to Sharjah following a successful campaign with Gemini Arabians, and he will now join Sarfraz Ahmed’s men as they fight Peshawar Zalmi in a top of the table clash on Sunday.
