CNY NRHS Excursion Solvay to Auburn, NY over the Finger Lakes Railway, Fall 1999

Using the CNY NRHS E8s 807 and 808 for power and NYS&W passenger cars, the Central New York Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society and Finger Lakes Railway worked together to provide a fall foliage passenger excursion from Solvay, NY to Auburn, NY and back in the fall of 1999. \r

I had my Nathan M5 horn on loan to the chapter while I purchased and restored a K5LA for the 807 on behalf of the chapter to replace a sick sounding P2 it formerly had. The video starts with the horn change out in Solvay and features on board footage to Auburn with a photo run by at Skaneateles Junction.\r

My dad chases the excursion in the train horn equipped Dodge Ram, and videos the train as it rests just shy of North Division Street; the furthest west a passenger train has traveled into Auburn in decades. E8 808 with a nice old casting P5 horn leads the train back with the video continuing to follow the train at various points throughout the city of Auburn on its way back to Solvay.
