Israeli delegation inspects water conservation projects in Maharashtra

Maharashtra, Feb 12 (ANI): An Israeli delegation led by Consul General in Mumbai David Akov took stock of water conservation projects in Maharashtra. Akov was accompanied by other Israeli delegates reviewed the projects in Aurangabad under the state government's ambitious Water Conservation Scheme. Through this initiative, the government aims at making the state drought-free state by 2019.Akov proposed a regular exchange of knowledge between India and Israel to help manage the water crisis in regions such as the state's Marathwada district. Drought in many parts of the country in 2015 hit production of rice, cotton and other crops. Maharashtra is looking to leverage Israel's technology in water conservation, drip irrigation and post-harvest processing to increase farm incomes and contain the growing agrarian crisis.
