"The President's Mystery," originally published in Liberty Magazine,'" was conceived by Franklin D. Roosevelt and written in collaboration with six highly regarded authors of the day (including S.S. Van Dine, the creator of Philo Vance).
This is the edited-for-television version. In its uncut form, The President's Mystery had a running time of 80 minutes. It was trimmed in the early 1950s to fit a one-hour time slot for television showings. Many of the original film elements were used in the editing process and unused portions were simply discarded.
