PATERSON, NEW JERSEY — Paterson, New Jersey police are investigating a video believed to be showing the vicious, unprovoked assault of a local man.

The footage, which was originally posted to Facebook, according to an ABC7 report, appears to show a local teen, egged on by his camera-wielding buddy, approaching an older man and delivering a haymaker to his face, knocking the victim to the ground.

The video appears to be an example of the 'knockout game', a brutal challenge that grew in prominence over the last few years and sees attackers sucker punch random victims, just for the hell of it.

The footage quickly garnered attention from disgusted residents who took to Facebook to express their outrage and demanded immediate action from local police.

While authorities say they've begun an ongoing investigation, members of the public say they're dragging their feet.

"Are you kidding me!!!!," wrote Nayeli Saldivar in a post to the Paterson Police Department's Facebook page. "Everyone is giving you names and addresses! Go investigate! We want justice. That kid can't get away with it. Make an arrest."

Paterson residents have decided to pick up the slack and have since identified an apparent suspect. Some have even gone as far as to dox him, posting his phone number and address online and one local man went as far as to actually hunt down the presumed attacker.

Police, however, have yet to officially identify a suspect or, sadly, even the victim, whose condition remains uncertain. Hopefully they'll catch this idiot soon enough.
