In Sydney, Australia, Taronga Zoo celebrated the birth of his first baby meerkats 2 in 7 years. Born January 7, these two irresistible little meerkats have taken their first steps outdoors on Thursday 4 February with their parents Nairobi and Maputo. They were at first a little frightened by this new world, but with a little encouragement from their mother and their father, they began to explore. They are visible only a few hours a day, and will be gradually installed for longer periods.
The two meerkats have not been named because it is unclear whether they are female or male, the veterinary team will confirm the current hypothesis February when they will have their first real test with their first vaccinations. For now, they are simply weighed and taken by trainers from time to time, to ensure that they grow well and are comfortable with the presence of humans. The two adorable babies come to exceed 120 grams.
