BLACKSBURG, VIRGINIA — Prosecutors said the murder of a teenaged girl by two Virginia Tech students was plotted at a fastfood restaurant, reported the WSET.
According to the Commonwealth's Attorney Mary Pettitt, David Eisenhauer and Natalie Keepers met at a Cook Out restaurant in Blacksburg, Virginia on January 26 to plan the murder of 13-year-old Nicole Lovell.
Eisenhauer said he would lure Lovell out of her house, take her to a remote area and slit her throat, Pettitt said. On the same night, Eisenhauer and Keepers also went to a Walmart in Christiansburg and bought a shovel.
On the night of January 27, Lovell barricaded her room with a dresser and climbed out of the window to meet with Eisenhauer. Her absence was reported at 6:30 p.m., and police immediately called the FBI, said Pettitt.
Investigators believed Lovell may have been in an inappropriate relationship with Eisenhauer and was murdered because she wanted to expose the relationship, reported CNN.
According to Pettitt, after the murder on Craig Creek Road in Blacksburg, Keepers helped load Lovell's body into Eisenhauer's Lexus and the two drove to a Walmart in Wytheville to purchase cleaning supplies. The pair then dumped Lovell's body in Surry County, North Carolina, reported WDBJ 7.
Police obtained a search warrant for Eisenhauer's dorm room on January 30th and found a text from Keepers saying "POLICE", and begun questioning Keepers, said Pettitt.
According to Pettitt, Keepers said she was "excited to be a part of something secret." Keepers also told investigators where to find Lovell's missing "Minions" blanket, which was stored away in a suitcase in Keepers' dorm room, reported WDBJ 7.
Eisenhauer is currently in jail without bond on charges of kidnapping and first-degree murder. Keepers was denied bail on Thursday on the charges of being an accessory to murder before the fact, concealing a body and being an accessory to murder after the fact.
