First sexually transmitted Zika case confirmed in US

Dallas County physician Francisco Neira discovered that Zika Virus can be sexually transmitted after confirming two cases of the virus in Texas, on Tuesday. The sperm sampled from the patient in question, who had sexual contact with someone recently returned from Venezuela, tested positive for the mosquito-borne virus for which there is no treatment. WHO has declared the virus a public health emergency as it quickly spreads across the Americas, and its suspected link to microcephaly in infants in Latin America and French Polynesia.
