Sheriff Glen Smith, the head of law enforcement in Waller County where Sandra Bland died, was previously suspended and fired for documented cases of racism. In 2007, Smith was suspended for two weeks, underwent anger management and was placed on a 6 month probation before eventually being fired. Herschel Smith, president of the Waller County Leadership Council, called the disciplinary action given to Smith, a slap on the hands. He got off way too lightly considering his humiliation and mistreatment of young African American males. Jose Marcelino Ortiz and Margaret J. Howell discuss Smiths past and the death of Sandra Bland on The Lip News.
