The Bm Chord, or to be more precise, the B Minor Chord is actually much easier to learn than most guitar students assume. But usually, here is the reaction I get whenever I try to introduce this ominous chord: the Bm Guitar Chord is way to challenging for me, because its one of those bar-chords, isnt it? The answer to that is: no, it doesnt have to be a bar chord. There are several way to approach this, and as a matter of fact sometimes it is actually better -- that obviously depends on the song -- that you play it as a bar chord.
In the first part of this tutorial I showed you how to tackle the Bm Chord Guitar challenge by starting out using a very simple and easy to learn finger position. This is not any more complicated than playing a D Major Chord or a C Major Chord.
The second method requires a little bit more finesse but it shouldnt be too hard either after a little bit of practice. Admittedly, if you are just starting out playing guitar, then this might be a little bit more challenging. However, by adding this one extra note to the chord, it sounds a little richer and depending on the piece youre playing, this might be just the perfect nuance you need.
The third and last version I demonstrated in the video tutorial was how to play the b minor chord on guitar as a bar chord. Again, you may want to put this on the back burner for a little while, but after a few months of regular practice, I would strongly recommend that you incorporate this method into your playing. Because it will allow you to learn and play along with songs for which the other two versions are okay, but just dont sound right.
Another reason why the B Minor Guitar Chord is so dreaded by many students is possibly due to the fact that it is not considered one of the basic chords. However, in my opinion, it shouldnt be viewed as one of the exotic chords, because it is definitely more popular than most beginners would assume. Especially, in many of the more melancholic songs you will stumble over this one quite a bit.
