Israel on Sunday rejects France’s intention to recognise a Palestinian state if its efforts to revive Israeli-Palestinian peace talks failed. Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at a cabinet meeting in Jerusalem that the proposal gave Palestinians no incentive to negotiate. Senior Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat however welcomed the move.
