Bahraich, Jan 29 (ANI): Kung fu nuns - who cycled for two months and fifteen days from Kathmandu - completed their journey on the eve of Republic Day on January 25. The nuns started their journey on November 18, 2015 and pedaled around 50 to 60 kms daily. Kung fu nuns belong to Drukpa or Dragon order, which has an 800-year old history and is based in Kathmandu. The order has gained increasing attention in the recent years with the introduction of kung fu as part of nuns' daily routine - something not historically open to Buddhist nuns. Talking about the rally, additional District Magistrate of Bahraich said they wanted to spread the message of Lord Buddha. This change was introduced by the spiritual leader, Gyalwang Drukpa, who is the head of Drukpa Lineage and has received UN Millennium Development Goals honour for his commitment to environmental awareness and gender equality.
