A Texas court has recently ruled that there is insufficient evidence to proceed with a case where a father was arrested and accused of misdemeanor theft after refusing to return his daughter’s phone; he had taken the device away as punishment for a rude text.
It’s fairly common to punish a misbehaving child by taking belongings away, but for one Texas dad, it got him arrested.
The incident happened in 2013 when Ronald Jackson confiscated his then-12-year-old daughter’s iPhone 4 after finding a rude text about a woman.
