After an extensive world wide search Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have announced that Tom Holland has been cast as the new Peter Parker/Spider-Man and 'Cop Car' helmsman Jon Watts as director. Not only will Holland will play the role of the webslinger in the next Sony Spider-Man film he is also expected to appear in Captain America: Civil War for Marvel. Sony Pictures will finance and release worldwide the next installment of the $4 billion Spider-Man franchise on July 28, 2017, in a film co-produced by Kevin Feige/Marvel and Amy Pascal. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the Web-Slinger. Spider-Man is one of the most successful franchise in the history of Sony Pictures, with the five films having taken in more than $4 billion worldwide.
