Whistling Woods International announced its foray into the online education space with the Whistling Woods Virtual Academy Dec.7 in the presence of Hrithik Roshan, who formally launched it immediately after an interactive session in Masterclass with over 300 students at Film City, Mumbai.
Hrithik applauded this first in India and said, "It's amazing to see WWI moving forward to reach the film aspirant in every corner of the world with its excellent quality of education." The actor was welcomed with a standing ovation.
The WWVA will commence classes in mid-2013, with admissions beginning by the first week of February 2013 for a one-year Certificate Course in Filmmaking (Online). The e-learning platform will web-based courses in multiple areas of Film, TV, Communication, Animation and other Media Arts. The courses will be combination of audio-visual playback, online and offline interactions with faculty as needed and online and offline assignments. The courses have intentionally been kept flexible to enable students to learn at their own pace, given their other commitments, availability of time and other constraints.
Meghna Ghai Puri, president, WWI, thanked the actor and announced, "We will be offering many different types of educational courses but using the huge power of the Internet, we will create an engaging and interactive learning environment where students can learn on demand in the fields of Art, Science and Commerce of the cinema and entertainment industry."
Hrithik Roshan said, "The kind of technical and artistic education students are getting here is invaluable and so inspiring that I would want to be a part of something like this. It is such an amazing service and such an amazing way to give back." He added, "There should be a Halo around Whistling Woods and the sanctity of this place should never be contaminated. It should exist in its purity and create a generation that will come out from here and go on to shape the world of tomorrow.
