Kochi, Jan 23 (ANI): A procession by 13 caparisoned elephants and cultural festivities in a Hindu temple enthralled devotees in Kochi. Thousands of devotees thronged to have a look at jumbos lined up at the ground adjacent to the Shiva temple, also known as Ernakulathappan Temple. The weeklong festival started with Kodiyettam, and on the seventh day there was Pakalpooram where the deity was taken out in a procession with caparisoned elephants. The function saw dancers dressed as various Hindu gods performing on the beats of 'Chenda'. The tallest jumbos from the state were arranged for the function. Hundreds of captive elephants are booked in advance by organisers of fairs and festivals to attract people.
